The pelvic floor muscles support the pelvic organs and span the bottom of the pelvis. Strong pelvic floor muscles give you control over your bladder and bowel. Weakened pelvic floor muscles mean your internal organs are not fully supported, and you may have difficulty controlling the release of urine. Other symptoms may include a heavy sensation in your genital area, a bulging sensation, and even hemorrhoids.
Physiological changes can contribute to the development of urinary incontinence. These changes may result from pregnancy, vaginal delivery, menopause, and aging, which can all decondition the pelvic floor muscles.

While you sit comfortably on the EMSELLA chair, you will experience tingling and pelvic floor muscle contractions (these will feel like Kegels). The energy settings can be increased or decreased based on your desired intensity level. Many patients are able to achieve the highest intensity on their first treatment. You may resume daily activities immediately after the treatment.

Each treatment is 28 minutes long with a recommended minimum of 6 sessions scheduled 2-3 days apart.  We will help you create a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific goals and that fits your schedule.

We encourage patients to stay well-hydrated before, during, and after completing their EMSELLA treatments to maximize their results.  Continue a healthy lifestyle with regular cardiovascular exercise, a well-balanced diet, and avoiding harmful substances like nicotine, alcohol, and drugs.

EMSELLA is contraindicated in patients who are pregnant or nursing; have metal or electronic implants, drug pumps, a metal IUD, Essure sterilization coils, epilepsy/seizure disorders, heart conditions/arrhythmia, pulmonary insufficiency, bleeding disorders, or recent surgery.
